The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a groundbreaking initiative to reform the country's correctional system by turning traditional custodial centres into productive agribusiness hubs. Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, presented this initiative during a stakeholders' roundtable held in Abuja, which was organized by Hope Behind Bars Africa with support from the European Union and the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption programme. The gathering involved various stakeholders from the government, civil society, and the private sector to discuss ways to optimize correctional farm centres and establish effective pathways for inmate reformation.
