Clandestine pharmacy suspected of distributing illegal medications to other cities and online
A clandestine pharmacy in Campinas, Brazil, is under investigation for allegedly distributing illegal medications to other cities and through the internet.
A clandestine compounding pharmacy located on Av. Dr. Moraes Salles in CambuÃ, Campinas, is currently under investigation for potentially distributing illegal medications not only locally but also to other cities and over the internet. The suspicion stems from revelations made by Civil Police delegate Marcel Fehr during a press conference, where he highlighted the pharmacy's ambitious production goal of 50,000 capsules per day. Such a high volume suggests that the medications produced could not solely serve a nearby pharmacy but were likely intended for broader distribution, including into the digital marketplace.
Police investigations revealed that documentation found at the scene confirmed the pharmacy's production capacity, indicating a significant quantity of medication being manufactured on a regular basis. The Civil Police's concerns also encompass the possibility of these medications being sold without proper oversight, raising serious public health and safety issues. The investigation came to a head during a coordinated operation with the Sanitary Surveillance, highlighting the collaborative effort needed to combat illegal pharmaceutical practices.
As a result of the operation, authorities confiscated approximately three tons of raw materials, valued at around R$ 940,000, which underscores the scale of illicit operations being conducted. This investigation not only points to the dangers posed by unregulated medication distribution but also calls attention to the need for stringent enforcement and monitoring within the pharmaceutical sector to safeguard public health.
