From prison, one of the killers of 'Mago Alex' and his girlfriend scammed a family with a rental in Mar del Plata

Enrique V. was scammed out of nearly half a million pesos while trying to rent a vacation apartment in Mar del Plata, with the con artists being connected to the imprisoned murderer 'Mago Alex.'

Enrique V., a 72-year-old man, had planned a family vacation in Mar del Plata but fell victim to a rental scam that cost him nearly half a million pesos. The scam began when he found an advertisement for a rental apartment near Playa Varese on a platform and subsequently communicated with someone claiming to be the owner via WhatsApp. To gain Enrique's trust, the alleged owner sent a copy of identification belonging to a co-owner of the property.

Despite the precautions he thought he was taking, Enrique sent a payment of 420,000 pesos to a digital account associated with a man named Gustavo Andrés Grasso. This transaction was made under the guise of securing the rental for the desired dates, December 30 to January 6. Hours before he was to move into the apartment, Enrique attempted to contact the scammers but found himself unable to reach them, realizing he had been duped.

Connections to organized crime surfaced when it was revealed that one of the individuals involved in the scam, Gustavo Andrés Grasso, was incarcerated and had previous links to the murder of a well-known individual named 'Mago Alex.' This indicates a troubling intersection of violent crime and fraudulent schemes, with authorities likely needing to investigate further to unravel the full extent of this network and prevent future scams of this nature.
