Three scammers arrested for robbing a Japanese retiree with the 'uncle's story' trick in Villa Ortúzar

Three scammers have been arrested by the City Police for deceiving a 71-year-old Japanese retiree in the Villa Ortúzar neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The criminals, posing as friends of the victim's son, approached her at her home with the pretext of delivering money. The incident resulted in the theft of four gold rings from the retiree, who has been residing in Argentina and holds citizenship there.

The elderly woman was approached by two men and a woman who gained her trust and executed the scam effectively. Following the crime, police received reports and managed to track down the assailants' vehicle. The suspects were located shortly thereafter in an area nearby, where they were apprehended. Officers discovered the stolen rings among the offenders' belongings, further implicating them in the crime.

All three suspects, aged 29, 30, and 36, have extensive criminal records including charges for homicide, robbery, aggravated concealment, and attempted robbery. This case illustrates the ongoing issue of scams targeting vulnerable individuals, particularly the elderly, and emphasizes the importance of vigilance and community awareness in preventing such crimes from reoccurring.
