With the Fast Track model, HM streamlines service in the Emergency Room

The Dr. José de Carvalho Florence Municipal Hospital in São José dos Campos has implemented a Fast Track model in its emergency services to improve patient flow and reduce wait times.

The Dr. José de Carvalho Florence Municipal Hospital, managed by the São Paulo Association for the Development of Medicine (SPDM), has initiated the Fast Track model in its emergency room this month. This model aims to reorganize patient flow by clearly separating less severe cases from those requiring urgent attention. The implementation aims to deliver positive outcomes for both patients and medical staff by enhancing internal organization and streamlining services.

According to Dr. Gustavo Nacif, head of the Adult Emergency Room, the change is designed to reduce patient wait times significantly and improve the overall internal operation of the emergency department. The Fast Track model is intended to prioritize urgent cases while allowing less critical patients to receive timely treatment without congesting the emergency facilities. Dr. Nacif emphasized the importance of this restructuring to ensure that those in need of immediate care are attended to swiftly and efficiently.

Prior to this implementation, all patients tended to follow the same pathway irrespective of the severity of their conditions, often leading to delays for those requiring more urgent medical intervention. The Fast Track approach is expected to optimize the emergency response and service efficiency, thereby enhancing patient satisfaction and outcomes within the hospital's emergency services.
