Famelos: The goal is the common progressive pole, solitary paths do not provide a solution

SYRIZA-PS leader Socrates Famelos launched a broad attack on the Greek government, criticizing its alignment with Trump and Netanyahu, and highlighting issues of inflation and profiteering due to the war's impact.

Socrates Famelos, the president of the SYRIZA-PS party, has aggressively criticized the Greek government's policies, particularly its alignment with foreign leaders like Trump and Netanyahu. During a meeting with the party's Political Secretariat, he asserted that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is attempting to project an image of security and stability, while the reality under his administration has been one of scandal and corruption. Famelos's remarks come against the backdrop of rising prices and inflation, which he attributes, in part, to government decisions and inaction.

In addressing the economic repercussions of ongoing geopolitical tensions, Famelos pointed out that the government has failed to adequately address the cost-of-living crisis currently impacting citizens. He emphasized that measures announced by the government are insufficient and warned that the underlying causes of price increases, particularly in energy and other essentials, have not been tackled. He noted a need for more comprehensive actions to truly aid the affected populace, whom he believes are being neglected by current policies.

Famelos also announced that SYRIZA would introduce a proposal in Parliament aimed at mitigating inflation and addressing profiteering. This proposal will include a suspension of VAT on food and pharmaceuticals, among other measures. His strategic vision for the party is to forge a coalition of progressive forces, suggesting that individual efforts will not suffice to create the necessary change in governance. This reflects a broader ambition to unite left-leaning ideologies against what he perceives as a failing incumbent leadership.
