"Argentina has to get out of the box": the UIA's diagnosis on the use of AI in the country

The President of the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA) presented a national diagnosis of AI, highlighting the need for Argentina to leverage AI to enhance productivity, while acknowledging existing disparities.

During the presentation of Argentina's first national AI diagnosis, conducted by the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA) in collaboration with Accenture, the UIA's president emphasized the metaphorical concept of the "Factory 2030" as both a project and a vision for the future of industry in Argentina. The report revealed that although 80% of Argentine companies plan to invest in and implement AI by 2026, significant gaps still hinder progress in achieving effective digital transformation.

The report identified persistent inequalities in the foundational enablers necessary for successful AI implementation, such as the maturity of core digital infrastructures including data management, standardized processes, and cloud integration. These gaps not only affect the technological capabilities of Argentine businesses but also threaten to widen the already existing disparities in productivity across the industrial sector.

The establishment of the Industry X Center is seen as a crucial step in exhibiting innovations that can revolutionize the local industry, providing a platform for companies to explore and adopt these technological advancements. By addressing these challenges and leveraging AI effectively, Argentina could enhance its labor productivity and competitiveness on a global scale.
