Petrolina promotes 1st edition of the Family Agriculture Fair at Praça Dom Malan
The first Family Agriculture Fair in Petrolina will take place on Friday, showcasing local agricultural products and supporting small producers.
On Friday, the 20th, Petrolina will host its inaugural Family Agriculture Fair at Praça Dom Malan, running from 8 AM to 5 PM. This event aims to promote and value family agricultural production, providing income generation opportunities and recognizing the role of small producers in the local economy. Through this initiative, the city seeks to enhance community awareness and support for agricultural diversity.
Visitors to the fair can expect to find a variety of locally produced goods, including vegetables, fruits, grains, cassava, and beans. Additionally, agroindustrial and artisanal products such as sweets, juices, cakes, biscuits, honey, and cheese will also be available. The fair will not only serve as a marketplace for these products but is also set to include a food court, creating a vibrant atmosphere for community interaction and support of local vendors.
Promoted by the Petrolina City Hall through the Secretary of Rural Development (SEDRU), the fair reflects an increasing recognition of the need to support small-scale agriculture amidst Brazil's larger agricultural framework. This aligns with broader objectives of sustainability and economic growth within the region, highlighting the essential contributions that family farms make to both local food systems and the economy.
