Family Agriculture Fair at Ufopa has first edition of 2026 this Thursday, 5th
The Ufopa Family Agriculture Fair is set to resume with its first event of 2026 on Thursday, featuring local produce and promoting economic integration between farmers and the academic community.
The Family Agriculture Fair (FAF) at the Federal University of Western Pará (Ufopa) is returning with its first event of 2026, taking place on Thursday from 7 AM to 12 PM in the entrance hall of the Modular Block Tapajós II at the Tapajós Unit in Santarém. This initiative offers fruits, vegetables, and other products cultivated in the region, providing an important platform for local farmers to showcase their goods.
This fair stems from the extension project "Consolidation of Integrative Strategies of the Family Agriculture Fair at Ufopa", aimed at fostering economic connections between family farmers and the academic community. Coordinated by professors Elen Pessôa and Luiz Feijão from the Institute of Social Sciences, this project is linked to the Incubator of Solidarity Economic Enterprises (Iecosol) at Ufopa, which seeks to promote and provide support to solidarity economic enterprises in Western Pará.
The FAF not only supports local agriculture but also serves as an educational opportunity for students and the community, highlighting the importance of local produce and sustainable farming practices. As it connects producers with consumers, the fair aims to strengthen community ties and encourage healthier eating habits by making fresh, local food more accessible.
