On Wednesday morning, a bus in Rio Comprido was deliberately set ablaze by criminals, causing panic among local residents and passersby in central Rio de Janeiro. The bus driver, Márcio Souza, described the incident as rapid and shocking, stating that two individuals requested to exit the bus before immediately igniting it. He expressed his distress over the event, noting that it was the first time he had experienced such a dangerous situation. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries as a result of the fire.

The attack on the bus is believed to be retaliatory in nature following the death of a notorious criminal, Claudio Augusto dos Santos, also known as Jiló dos Prazeres. Santos, aged 55, was killed earlier that day during a police operation in Morro dos Prazeres. Known as one of the state's most wanted criminals, his death prompted violent retaliation from associates, marked by the bus fire incident.
