Bus set on fire in BH; VIDEO
A bus in Belo Horizonte was set ablaze in a suspected arson case early Tuesday morning.
In the early hours of Tuesday, October 10, a bus of line 626 was intentionally set on fire in the Mantiqueira neighborhood of Belo Horizonte. The fire, reported by local authorities to be a criminal act, occurred around 3 AM on Rua Jordelina Maria do Carmo, close to Avenida Vilarinho. Fortunately, the bus driver was the only person present at the time, and he was unharmed. The fire department was able to control the flames swiftly.
Witness statements indicate that the driver was approached by three armed men after being blocked by a Fiat PΓ‘lio. They reportedly threatened him, stole his phone, and demanded that he leave the bus, which they subsequently set ablaze using gasoline. This incident has raised concerns not only due to the violent nature of the act, but also because the perpetrating suspects left behind a message carrying threats and references to abuses in prison, suggesting a deeper motive behind the attack.
Authorities are investigating this incident which reflects increasing violence in urban areas as well as potential links to broader criminal activities. The police are currently looking into the message left by the suspects for any clues that could lead to their identities and motives. Such actions provoke public concern regarding safety on public transportation and the potential for escalation if such criminal behaviors continue unchecked.
