Federal Police conducts integrated operation against criminal factions targeting drug trafficking and money laundering
The Federal Police of Brazil is executing a large-scale operation across 15 states to combat drug trafficking and money laundering linked to organized crime.
On Wednesday, the Federal Police of Brazil launched a major operation involving security forces from 15 states, targeting drug trafficking, weapons smuggling, and money laundering often associated with criminal factions. This integrated operation, known as FICCOs, involves various public security agencies, including state and federal police forces, and aims to dismantle organized crime networks.
A total of 112 search and seizure warrants and 180 arrest warrants are being executed in multiple states, including São Paulo, where the operation specifically targets the criminal organization Comando Vermelho (CV). This gang is known for its involvement in drug trafficking and violent territorial disputes, raising security concerns and prompting law enforcement's decisive action.
The operation also entails the freezing of bank accounts linked to these criminal activities, indicating a broader strategy not only to arrest individuals but also to disrupt the financial mechanisms that sustain organized crime in Brazil. With such a coordinated effort across different jurisdictions, the Federal Police aims to strike a significant blow against established crime networks in the country.
