Punishment for keeping a dirty eye on wife, younger brother's neck cut off with a sword
In Uttar Pradesh's Mathura, a man killed his younger brother with a sword over a suspicion that he was eyeing his wife.
In a shocking incident in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, a man named Meghshyam Singh was arrested for the brutal murder of his younger brother Niranjan on the night of Tuesday. This act was reportedly motivated by suspicion, as Meghshyam's wife, Durgesh, claimed that Niranjan had been casting inappropriate glances at her. In a fit of rage, Meghshyam attacked his brother with a sharp weapon, resulting in Niranjan's death on the spot.
The violence escalated further when their mother, Lounga Devi, intervened in a bid to stop the attack; however, she too was injured in the process. Following the gruesome attack, Meghshyam locked himself in a room and fled the scene with his wife. The brothers, who had both been married around eight years to sisters from Bharatpur, Rajasthan, had a history of familial tensions, which may have contributed to the tragic incident.
Additionally, police reports indicate that Niranjan had issues with alcohol, which often led to domestic disputes. This context of strained family relations and unresolved conflicts raises crucial questions about the underlying societal issues at play, including the effects of substance abuse and domestic violence within Indian family structures, highlighting the need for effective intervention and support systems.
