Over 84,000 applicants for post-basic education
The joint application process for post-basic education in Finland saw over 84,000 applicants this year, marking an increase from the previous year.
In Finland, the recent joint application round for post-basic education concluded with over 84,000 applicants, indicating a growth of 2,000 applicants compared to last year. This interest comes as more than 65,000 students are set to complete their basic education this spring, with a remarkable 98 percent of them participating in the joint application process.
Among the applicants, a significant portion—55 percent—applied for general upper secondary schools (lukio), while 39 percent sought vocational education opportunities. This reflects a continuing trend in Finnish education where students are keen on pursuing diverse educational pathways following their basic education.
The total number of available student places in this joint application round was approximately 88,000, suggesting a competitive environment for the applicants. Results from the student selection process will be announced in mid-June, which will determine the next steps for the applicants as they move forward into their educational careers.
