Point N: The first figures from high school applications - another round of the battle for quality education

Over 155,000 candidates have applied for high schools in Czechia this year, but available spots are significantly lower than demand.

This year, over 155,000 students have applied for admission to high schools and multi-year gymnasiums in Czechia, with significant competition for places. Among these applicants, 25,000 are vying for four-year gymnasiums, 19,000 for eight-year gymnasiums, and almost 7,000 for six-year gymnasiums. However, the capacity for these schools is vastly insufficient, with only 17,496 places available for the four-year gymnasiums, which includes private institutions, 9,164 for the eight-year gymnasiums, and just 2,427 for the six-year options.
