A. Miškinienė: the expectations of most local residents regarding the Kapčiamiesčio landfill – to be met
Mayor A. Miškinienė stated that the expectations of most local residents and property owners regarding the Kapčiamiesčio landfill project will be addressed, with compensations being calculated for damages.
In a recent interview with LRT radio, Mayor A. Miškinienė expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Kapčiamiesčio landfill project, indicating that the concerns of most local residents and property owners are being recognized and incorporated into the legislation. This comes after earlier drafts of the project did not fully address these expectations. The mayor asserted that adjustments are underway and will be reflected in future government or ministerial actions.
The Ministry of National Defence noted that compensation for residents with properties in the area will be determined based on either the restored or comparative value of their properties, whichever is greater. This approach aims to ensure fairness and transparency as the project moves forward. The mayor emphasized that the legal draft stage has been completed, and they are transitioning to the next phase of the project.
Additionally, residents will be compensated for non-material damages, which is expected to reach the equivalent of 45 minimum monthly wages, amounting to approximately 51,800 euros per residence, before taxes. This commitment to compensatory measures highlights the government’s efforts to address the concerns of the affected community and suggests that local governance is prioritizing resident welfare amid infrastructural developments.
