Traffic Police Advisory for Delhi's Navratri Festivities
Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory due to expected heavy crowds and traffic jams around the Kalkaji Temple during the upcoming Navratri festival from March 18 to 27, 2026.
The Chaitra Navratri festival, celebrated from March 18 to March 27, 2026, is expected to draw millions of devotees to the famous Kalkaji Temple in Delhi, potentially leading to significant crowding and traffic congestion in the vicinity. To mitigate these anticipated disruptions, the Delhi Traffic Police has released a detailed advisory for commuters.
According to the advisory, roads such as the Outer Ring Road, Maa Anandmayi Marg, Captain Gaur Marg, and Aastha Kunj Road are likely to experience heavy traffic during the ten-day festival. Specifically, parking will be completely prohibited on the Outer Ring Road from Nehru Place to Modi Mill Flyover, forcing vehicles to utilize designated parking areas only. This regulation aims to maintain traffic flow and reduce the chances of gridlock in these busy areas.
The Traffic Police has encouraged travelers to plan their journeys in advance and, where possible, to use public transportation options like the metro and buses. The recommendation to shift from private vehicles to public transport is intended to lower the number of cars on the road and alleviate potential bottlenecks, ensuring smoother travel for everyone during this auspicious festival period.
