Calgary man charged after RCMP seize ‘significant’ amount of drugs, cash
A Calgary man has been charged following an RCMP investigation that resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of drugs valued at approximately $450,000.
RCMP in Cochrane, Alberta, have charged a 42-year-old man from Calgary after a thorough investigation into drug trafficking activities linked to him. The investigation began in April 2025, focusing on allegations that the man was transporting drugs between Calgary and Lethbridge. The police efforts led to the seizure of a significant cache of drugs, valued at an estimated $450,000, from a storage locker in Airdrie connected to the suspect.
The timeline of the operation intensified in February 2026 when officers identified a vehicle at a known problematic location on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation. After learning that the vehicle had been reported stolen by its registered owner, authorities towed the vehicle and gathered further intelligence. This culminated in the execution of a search warrant at a storage facility, where investigators discovered 1.4 kg of controlled substances believed to be linked to the suspect's trafficking activities.
In a notable development on March 11, the suspect was observed at a tow yard in Cochrane, where the previously towed vehicle was held. The covert surveillance team, comprising RCMP members and other law enforcement resources, played a crucial role in monitoring the suspect’s movement, which suggests a continued focus on dismantling drug distribution networks in the region, especially in areas with high concerns regarding substance abuse.
