Police seize 13 kg of cocaine, meth and cash in Gatineau trafficking probe
Two men have been charged after police in Gatineau seized a significant amount of drugs and cash during a trafficking investigation.
The Gatineau Police Service announced that two men, aged 31 and 36, were arrested on March 10 as part of an extensive drug trafficking investigation. This operation was conducted with public assistance and targeted the illegal drug market in the Rivière-Blanche district. During a search of a residence on Lucien-Gendron Street, law enforcement seized approximately 13 kilograms of cocaine, over 5,000 methamphetamine tablets, and more than $88,000 in Canadian currency, highlighting the scale of the trafficking operation involved.
In addition to drugs and cash, police discovered equipment typically used for drug trafficking, which underscores the organized nature of the activities carried out by the suspects. Following their arrest, both men were released on summons and are expected to appear in court at a later date. This case reflects the ongoing challenges that law enforcement faces in combatting drug-related crime, as well as the critical role that community vigilance plays in aiding police investigations.
The Gatineau Police Service continues to encourage public assistance by urging citizens to report any suspicious activities related to drug possession or trafficking in the area. As they work to dismantle local drug operations, the police emphasize the importance of community engagement in keeping neighborhoods safe from the impacts of substance abuse and trafficking.
