Over 14,000 Poles have returned to their country as part of an evacuation operation amid the Middle East crisis.
In light of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, Polish authorities have successfully facilitated the return of over 14,000 Polish citizens through evacuation operations between March 1 and 16. The operation involved 82 flights, with more than 12,000 individuals being evacuated from the Middle East. During a meeting summarizing the evacuation, Deputy Minister Jakub Rutnicki emphasized the unprecedented efficiency of these efforts, acknowledging the collaboration of various industry representatives who played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of returning tourists.
The evacuation was conducted using Polish Air Force planes, LOT Polish Airlines, and involved international support through the EU's Civil Protection Mechanism and the rescEU program.
