TCMPA recommends rejection of the 2024 accounts of the City Hall of Mojuí dos Campos

The Pará Court of Accounts recommends that the City Council of Mojuí dos Campos reject the 2024 financial accounts of former mayor Marco Antonio Machado Lima due to several irregularities.

The Pará Court of Accounts (TCMPA) has advised the City Council of Mojuí dos Campos to reject the 2024 financial accounts submitted by former mayor Marco Antonio Machado Lima. This recommendation was made during the 10th Ordinary Session held on the 12th and is based on a technical report outlining numerous irregularities. The session was presided over by councilor Lúcio Vale and the process was reported by councilor Daniel Lavareda.

Among the significant issues identified were violations of the Fiscal Responsibility Law and failures to meet constitutional limits in essential areas, notably in education. The report indicates that the municipal administration managed over R$ 231 million during the stated period, yet displayed serious inconsistencies in the application of public resources. As a consequence, the former mayor has also been fined R$ 8,526.35 for these infractions.

The technical assessment highlighted four main issues that contributed to the recommendation of rejection. These include significant deviations in spending practices and failures in adhering to financial regulations, which raise concerns about the management of public funds and the implications for local governance. The situation emphasizes the need for accountability and adherence to financial laws in municipal administrations to ensure proper use of taxpayer money.
