Councilors deny the opening of two CPIs against Rodrigo Manga days after MPF's accusation in Sorocaba
Sorocaba councilors have blocked two requests to open investigations against former Mayor Rodrigo Manga following recent allegations of corruption.
The City Council of Sorocaba, Brazil, voted against two requests to establish Parliamentary Inquiry Commissions (CPIs) targeting the recently suspended Mayor Rodrigo Manga. This decision, made during a session on Thursday, comes in the wake of a serious indictment by the Federal Public Ministry (MPF), which alleges that Manga, alongside his wife, mother, and ten others, is implicated in a criminal organization, embezzlement, active and passive corruption, money laundering, and related offenses. The allegations are part of an extensive investigation known as Operation Copia e Cola, which highlights significant concerns regarding the misappropriation of health service funds in the municipality.
