Cattle: the week began with increases at the Cañuelas Agro-Livestock Market

The Cañuelas Agro-Livestock Market saw significant price increases this week with the sale of 7,594 cattle.

This Tuesday marked the beginning of the weekly activities at the Cañuelas Agro-Livestock Market (MAG), with an entry of 7,594 animals transported from 210 trucks. Local operators in the supply and industry sectors exhibited strong competition to procure livestock, leading to increased prices, particularly for steers. The General Index rose by 2.73% from last Friday, climbing from 3,585.110 to 3,682.940 pesos, while the Steer Index saw an increase of 3.09%, varying from 4,422.943 to 4,559.547 pesos per kilo.

Among the 7,594 cattle, 663 steers made up 8.76% of the total sales, with noteworthy price records including $5,000 for steers weighing 441 kg; $4,900 for those weighing 465, 474, and 493 kg; and $4,800 for a steer weighing 505 kg. The premium prices for cows reached $4,500 for those weighing 436 kg, $3,700 for both 455 and 496 kg options, and $3,600 for cows reaching weights of 518 and 521 kg. This pricing trend underscores the current demand dynamics in the cattle market, suggesting healthy competition and a recovering market in the agro-livestock sector in Argentina.
