Deiktesota.gov.gr: The new performance observatory of local governance
A new performance monitoring hub for local governance in Greece has been unveiled, providing citizens with access to aggregated statistics on essential services offered by municipalities.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis chaired a multi-ministerial meeting where the new Local Governance Performance Monitoring Hub, available at deiktesota.gov.gr, was presented. This initiative aims to provide citizens with accessible, aggregated statistical data regarding key services provided by first-level municipalities. This development marks a significant step towards enhancing transparency in local governance and citizen engagement.
The presentation, led by Interior Minister Thodoris Livanes, highlighted nine main indicators available on the new portal. These indicators encompass various aspects of municipal operations, including economic performance, social protection, preschool education, cultural offerings, sustainable mobility, waste management, civil protection, stray animal management, and digital maturity. Each category comprises several sub-indicators, creating a comprehensive national database that serves not only to increase transparency but also to assist in effective policymaking based on actual data.
This initiative signifies Greece's effort to modernize local governance and facilitate informed decision-making at all levels. By making critical data publicly accessible for the first time, the government aims to empower citizens to assess and engage with local governance effectively, fostering greater accountability and responsiveness from municipal authorities.
