On Saturday (14), ten puppies were rescued by the Fire Department after being trapped for about five days under the sidewalk of a house in Maués, located in the Amazonas state of Brazil. The puppies were discovered in a hole dug by their mother, who had given birth in that location. Remarkably, all the puppies were found alive and unharmed. The operation took place in the Santa Tereza neighborhood and was conducted by the Integrated Firefighting and Civil Protection Group of the Amazonas Military Fire Department.
The situation came to light when the homeowner returned from a trip and noticed the puppies underneath the concrete structure. Concerned, she immediately called the firefighters for assistance. According to the firefighters, the mother dog had created a hole approximately 20 centimeters deep beneath the walkway, where she took her puppies shortly after giving birth. The quick response of the fire department was crucial in ensuring the safe rescue of the puppies.
The rescue operation involved several tools, including a hoe, a digging iron, and even a chainsaw, to safely extract the puppies from their confined space. The entire rescue process lasted about an hour, highlighting the dedicated efforts of the firefighters to ensure the well-being of the animals involved. The successful outcome of this operation not only saved the puppies' lives but also brought attention to the importance of animal welfare and the responsibilities that come with pet ownership.
