The mayor of Manaus announced an investment of over R$ 14 million for the creation of a Technological Park in the city's historical center as part of a strategy to boost innovation and entrepreneurship.
The mayor of Manaus, David Almeida, recently announced a significant investment of over R$ 14 million aimed at establishing a Technological Park within the Innovation District of Largo de São Vicente, located in the heart of the city. This initiative is a collaboration between the municipal government, particularly through the Department of Work, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation (Semtepi), and the National Financing Agency for Studies and Projects (Finep), which is linked to the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation. The funding is part of a broader strategy to transform Manaus’s historic center into a hub for technology, entrepreneurship, and creative economy.
Of the total investment, R$ 10,237,624.28 million will be sourced from the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FNDCT), allocated via Finep, while the municipal government contributes around R$ 4 million as a counterpart. This financial backing underlines the city's commitment to fostering an environment conducive to technological advancement and economic growth. The project also involves the restoration of the historic mansion on São Vicente island, which is situated across from the Lúcia Almeida viewpoint, contributing to both cultural and economic revitalization in the area.
With this planned Technological Park, Manaus aims to create a vibrant ecosystem that supports innovation and attracts entrepreneurs, researchers, and investors. The establishment of such a facility is expected to stimulate local economic development, enhance job creation, and position Manaus as a competitive player in the regional technology landscape, aligning with the broader objectives of economic revitalization in the city’s historical center and supporting the transition toward a more modern and sustainable economy.
