Hellenic Train: Train services resume in Evros
Hellenic Train announced the resumption of railway services in the Evros region, starting from March 18 and 19, 2026, after an update from the Greek Railways Infrastructure Manager.
Hellenic Train has officially announced the resumption of train services in the Evros area, marking a significant development for local transportation. The scheduled services 1682 and 1683 will start operating normally from Wednesday, March 18, 2026, between Alexandroupolis and Orestiada. Additionally, partial morning services 1680 and 1681 will commence on Thursday, March 19, 2026, although the segment from Nea Vyssa to Ormenio will temporarily be replaced by bus services without intermediate stops.
The announcement reflects the ongoing efforts by Hellenic Train to restore full railway operations in collaboration with the Greek Railways Infrastructure Manager. The company has expressed appreciation towards the passengers for their understanding during the period of service interruption and emphasized its commitment to improving passenger service as train circulation is gradually restored.
This step is particularly relevant for the Evros region, which relies heavily on railroad connectivity for transportation of both passengers and goods. The restoration of these services not only enhances local mobility but also demonstrates the dedication of the railway service providers to address public transport needs following the disruptions in the past.
