Hellenic Train: Suspension of routes on the Thessaloniki - Serres - Thessaloniki line and the Pelion Train

Hellenic Train is suspending specific train routes for nearly six weeks starting February 19, 2026, due to freight train passage, with alternative bus services provided.

Hellenic Train announced the suspension of train services for routes 3632, 1634, 3633, and 1635 on the Thessaloniki - Serres - Thessaloniki line from February 19, 2026, to March 31, 2026. The reason for this suspension is due to the passage of freight trains in the same area, which necessitates these alterations to the regular passenger service. To accommodate affected passengers, Hellenic Train will provide bus services that will stop at various locations, including Sidirokastro, Neo Petritsi, Vyronia, and more, ensuring that travelers are still able to reach their destinations during this period of disruption.

Additionally, in response to operational needs, the Pelion Train will also suspend its weekend services starting from February 14, 2026, until the end of March 2026. Passengers who have already purchased tickets for these suspended routes will receive refunds based on their method of payment, whether it was cash or card. This series of service suspensions reflects the operational adjustments necessitated by increased freight activity, highlighting the challenges faced by rail operators in balancing passenger and freight train schedules.
