Migrants can enroll in a free Portuguese course in MS; classes will be at Funtrab
International migrants living in Mato Grosso do Sul can now sign up for a free Portuguese course aimed at integration into Brazil.
International migrants residing in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, have the opportunity to enroll in a free Portuguese language course designed to facilitate their integration into Brazilian society. This initiative, part of the UEMS Acolhe program from the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul, reflects efforts to help migrants adjust to their new environment. Classes will take place at the Fundação do Trabalho de Mato Grosso do Sul (Funtrab) and will also be available in other locations including Cassilândia, Corumbá, and Dourados.
Enrollment for the course is open until Tuesday, and interested participants need only provide their CPF (Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas - an identification number) to register. The course consists of 60 hours of instruction, running from March to June 2026, and will culminate in a certificate for those who complete the program. The schedule includes multiple classes each month, ensuring flexibility for participants with varying availability.
This educational initiative underscores the increasing recognition of the need for language support for migrants in Brazil, aiming to enhance their ability to communicate effectively and integrate into the local community. Such programs not only benefit the individual migrants but also contribute to a more inclusive society, fostering connections between diverse cultural backgrounds and promoting social cohesion in the region.
