The Municipal Department of Transport and Traffic (DMTT) has announced a temporary blockade on a section of Av. da Paz in the Jaraguá neighborhood of Maceió for essential maintenance of a broken sewage pipeline by BRK Ambiental. The pipeline ruptured, causing the road surface to sink and necessitating immediate repairs. Consequently, this blockade has created heavy traffic in the central region and other neighborhoods across the city, impacting daily commuters significantly.

Due to this situation, traffic in the affected areas has turned chaotic, with agents from the DMTT deployed at key intersections to manage the vehicle flow. The construction work has impacted central medians along the avenue, directing traffic through alternative routes which are currently being communicated to drivers. The repairs are aimed at restoring normal flow as quickly as possible, with a completion estimate set for Thursday, June 19.
