Operation arrests alleged faction leader and dismantles criminal group in Macapá
Four suspects were arrested in Macapá during Operation Desarme, which targeted a criminal organization believed to be planning attacks against rivals.
On the night of Monday, October 16th, police in Macapá arrested four suspects during Operation Desarme, including an alleged leader of a criminal faction. The operation was executed in the Araxá neighborhood following reports that members of the group were armed and intending to carry out attacks against rival factions. This action highlights the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to curb gang violence in the area.
The police intervention involved the Tactical Motorizated Round Team (Rotam) of the Special Operations Battalion (Bope) from the Military Police of Amapá. During the operation, three of the suspects were apprehended within a residence without resistance, while a fourth individual attempted to escape and exchanged gunfire with the officers, resulting in him being shot. A firearm used by the suspect was confiscated, illustrating the level of danger associated with the arrests.
In addition to the suspects' arrests, law enforcement discovered several items during the search, including drugs, ammunition, firearms, a scale, cash, and a replica firearm. The comprehensive approach taken by the police not only neutralized immediate threats posed by the criminal group but also aimed to disrupt their operations significantly by seizing their weapons and narcotics.
