Jyri Häkämies of EK Becomes Advisor for Development Company Cursor

Jyri Häkämies, the long-time CEO of the Confederation of Finnish Industries, will take on an advisory role with the development company Cursor in the Kotka-Hamina region without compensation.

Jyri Häkämies, who has served as the CEO of the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK) for many years, is set to begin his new role as an advisor to the development company Cursor, which operates in the South Kymenlaakso region and Loviisa. Cursor is a key player in supporting and developing local businesses, attracting investments to the area, and enhancing tourism. The company currently employs 45 people and plays a pivotal role in driving regional economic growth.

According to Cursor's chairman, Ari-Pekka Saari, one of the company’s main objectives is to secure investments in battery industry and data centers in Finland. The addition of Häkämies, who brings extensive experience and expertise, is expected to significantly enhance Cursor's operations and capacity to meet these goals. Häkämies will be taking on this advisory role without financial compensation, emphasizing his commitment to regional development and collaboration.

Häkämies is set to retire from his position at EK in May next year, which marks the end of a significant chapter in his career. Prior to becoming the CEO of EK in 2012, he was a member of parliament and served as the Minister of Economic Affairs and the Minister of Defense in three different governments, providing him with a wealth of knowledge and a strong network that will benefit Cursor and the local economy in South Kymenlaakso.
