A big transfer hit in the SM-league

Tampereen Ilves has secured Swedish goaltender Christoffer Rifalk for the upcoming season.

Tampereen Ilves announced a significant signing for the next season in the Finnish SM-liiga by acquiring Swedish goaltender Christoffer Rifalk. Previously playing for SHL club Rögle, the 29-year-old has been a notable presence on the ice, making an impressive 19 appearances this season with a save percentage of 91.1 and an average of 1.76 goals against per game. This transfer highlights Ilves' ambition to strengthen their team and compete effectively in the league.

Rifalk's signing is a strategic move for Ilves, especially considering his experiences and achievements, which include two SHL silver medals and a CHL championship. His previous performance at Rögle positioned him as a target for multiple SM-liiga teams, including HIFK. This move is expected to bolster Ilves’ goalkeeping lineup significantly, providing a solid foundation as they aim for better results in the upcoming season.

Rifalk will team up with Lithuanian goaltender Mantas Armalis, who has recently extended his contract with the club. In the current season, Armalis is sharing goaltending duties with Czech goalie Dominik Pavlát. The combination of these two skilled goalkeepers is likely to enhance Ilves’ competitive edge in the SM-liiga, as they prepare for future challenges and strive for a successful campaign.
