Ilves' goalkeeper to a top Swiss club for the rest of the season

Tampereen Ilves has loaned goalkeeper Roope Tapos to Swiss top-tier team HC Davos for the remainder of the season.

Tampereen Ilves has announced that goalkeeper Roope Tapos will be loaned to Swiss top-tier team HC Davos for the rest of the playing season. This decision comes as Tapos found himself third in line behind regular goalies Mantas Armalis and Dominik Pavlรกt, limiting his playing time to only six games in the Finnish SM-liiga, where he has an 84.30% save percentage and an average of 3.66 goals allowed per game.

Ilves' sports director Timo Koskela explained that the arrangement serves both the player and the clubs involved, as they have a third goalie, Jimi Kuivila, available to support the team. The move is designed to provide Tapos with more playing opportunities and experience while remaining a viable backup option for Ilves. The Finnish club is confident this loan will benefit Tapos in his development as a goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, HC Davos is currently performing well in the Swiss National League, having secured their place in the playoffs. The team is not only looking to strengthen their roster with Tapos but is also working to manage the shared responsibilities among goalies Luca Hollenstein and another, ensuring they can maintain their top position and successfully navigate the upcoming playoff rounds.
