Lithuanian man struck by acute illness in Thailand continues to fight for life: family shares latest news
A Lithuanian man suffering from a severe illness in Thailand is currently undergoing treatment while his family seeks public assistance to bring him back to Lithuania.
A Lithuanian man named Deividas has been diagnosed with acute necrotizing pancreatitis, a critical form of pancreatic inflammation, and has been receiving intensive care since early January. His family has spent over 130,000 euros on medical expenses and is urgently requesting public support to repatriate him to Lithuania for further treatment. His mother remains by his side, dedicating her time to caring for him as he battles this severe condition.
Since his diagnosis, Deividas has had to endure multiple medical procedures, including a tracheostomy performed on February 24 to assist his breathing. Additionally, two drains were inserted into the affected area of his pancreas to manage the ongoing inflammation. Despite the severity of his condition and the significant medical interventions required, there have been recent signs of improvement that give hope to his family during this difficult time.
The family’s plight highlights the challenges faced by individuals stranded overseas due to health emergencies. With the financial burden exceeding 130,000 euros, they are appealing to the wider Lithuanian community for assistance, emphasizing the need for support in such dire circumstances. The situation not only underscores the vulnerabilities of travelers in critical health situations but also the community's capacity to assist during emergencies.
