Children kidnapped at school gate are rescued in car on BR-135, in southern Piauí
Kids kidnapped near a school in southern Piauí were rescued by federal police in a vehicle after a tip-off led to their discovery.
In a distressing incident in Bom Jesus, southern Piauí, federal highway police rescued two children who had been kidnapped from outside their school. The rescue occurred on the afternoon of Monday, October 16, when officers acted on a tip regarding a suspicious vehicle potentially involved in the children’s abduction. Federal highway police launched a search for the vehicle and successfully intercepted it at key point along the BR-135 highway, around 5 PM.
Upon stopping the vehicle, the officers found the two children inside, accompanied by their mother and grandmother. Fortunately, police reported that the children were unharmed despite their traumatic experience. Following the rescue, the family was taken to the Bom Jesus police station, which is responsible for investigating the incident further and ensuring the safety of the children. The car in which they were found was also taken into custody due to its expired licensing.
This case highlights the ongoing issues of child safety in Brazil, particularly around schools, and the vulnerability of children to abduction.
