A 19-year-old was arrested with drugs by police using drones in an operation in Barra Mansa, Brazil.
In an operation on Monday, the 16th, in Barra Mansa, Rio de Janeiro, a 19-year-old man was arrested for drug possession during a police intervention that employed drone technology. The operation targeted drug trafficking activities in the Lazaredo community, where officials had received intelligence regarding illicit drug sales. Drones were utilized to monitor the movements suspected of involvement in the drug trade.
The police observed the young man behaving suspiciously with a bag, which prompted them to approach him. Upon noticing the officers, he attempted to flee and sought refuge in his grandmother's house. The police pursued him successfully and conducted a search of the residence, where they discovered the young man hiding in a bedroom along with a bag containing 262 capsules of cocaine and a communication radio.
Following his capture, the suspect was taken to the Barra Mansa police station, facing charges for drug trafficking and association with drug trafficking. He is expected to be transferred to a prison facility after the legal proceedings. This incident highlights the increasing use of drone technology by law enforcement in Brazil to combat drug-related crimes.
