Two young men are arrested for involvement with drug trafficking in Barra Mansa

Two young men, aged 19 and 25, were arrested in Barra Mansa, Brazil, for their involvement in drug trafficking after attempting to evade police.

On Tuesday morning, two young men, aged 19 and 25, were arrested for drug trafficking in the Bom Pastor neighborhood of Barra Mansa, Rio de Janeiro. The arrest occurred around 10:30 AM when the pair attempted to escape from police, jumping over walls and rooftops of nearby houses. This operation was notably supported by drone surveillance, which helped locate and apprehend the suspects despite their fleeing attempts.

According to the Civil Police, one of the arrested individuals has been wanted by law enforcement since the previous year, which highlights ongoing issues related to drug trafficking and crime in the area. During the operation, police seized a number of illegal substances, including a transmitter radio, 76 bags of marijuana, 130 crack stones, and 160 capsules of cocaine, reflecting the scale of the operation and the involvement of the accused in the local drug trade.

The suspects have been taken to the Barra Mansa police station, where they face charges for drug trafficking and association with drug trafficking acts. Following the legal proceedings, they are expected to be transferred to the prison system, marking a significant development in the ongoing fight against drug-related crime in Rio de Janeiro.
