Motiva replaces ViaQuatro brand at SP's yellow line metro stations

Motiva has begun replacing the ViaQuatro branding at São Paulo's yellow line metro stations, with completion expected by July 2024.

Motiva, formerly part of the CCR group, is in the process of replacing the ViaQuatro branding with its new identity across the yellow line stations of the São Paulo metro. By July 2024, the ViaQuatro name, which has been associated with the line, will be completely replaced by Motiva, marking a significant rebranding effort in the city's transport system. The change will not alter the predominant yellow color of the line but will introduce Motiva's blue logo with flowing 'M' letters in specific stations such as Pinheiros and Morumbi.

Vanessa Duarte, the Communication Director for the group, indicated that the plan is to implement the new visual identity in the ongoing rail projects across São Paulo by 2026. This includes the development of the lilac line 5, the diamond line 8, and the emerald line 9, all previously managed under the ViaMobilidade brand, which will also be phased out in a similar rebranding move. The pending name changes are subject to approval by Artesp, the state's regulatory agency, which oversees transportation systems in the region.

This branding shift represents more than just a design update; it reflects broader changes in the management and operational focus within São Paulo's transportation infrastructure. The move aims to unify branding across different transport lines under a single identity, potentially enhancing commuter experience and operational coherence. As the metropolis expands its railway systems, such changes might also indicate a strategic effort to consolidate private sector involvement in public transport services.
