On Tuesday morning, a significant police operation known as Operation Cluster led to the arrest of ten individuals implicated in the activities of the Bonde do Maluco (BMD) faction in Simões Filho, part of the Metropolitan Region of Salvador. This operation was initiated following a lengthy investigation by the Special Department of Investigation and Suppression of Drug Trafficking (DENARC), which began in 2025, aimed at dismantling this organized crime group known for its violent and illegal operations.

The arrested suspects are reportedly linked to serious crimes, including homicides and the trafficking of drugs and firearms. Among those targeted in the operation are the leadership figures within the gang, particularly those referred to as “financial managers,” who play crucial roles in the group's economic activities. This highlights the law enforcement's focus on not just the foot soldiers but also the financial underpinnings that support such criminal enterprises.

The police have indicated that the operation is still ongoing, suggesting that further arrests and investigations may follow as authorities continue to address the activities of this dangerous faction and work towards enhancing security in the region.
