Two men are arrested and 6 minors are seized for drug trafficking in Greater BH
Two men were arrested and six minors seized during a police operation against drug trafficking in Ribeirão das Neves, Brazil.
In a police operation carried out on Tuesday, two men were arrested, and six minors were taken into custody for involvement in drug trafficking in the Sevilha neighborhood of Ribeirão das Neves, located in the Greater Belo Horizonte area. According to the Military Police, the operation was based on anonymous tips that detailed how a specific house was being used for the processing and packaging of drugs intended for sale in a nearby community in Carlos Prates, Belo Horizonte.
Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officials were granted access to the property by a resident, where they caught individuals in the act of packaging crack cocaine. The police reported that the facility was exclusively used for this purpose, indicating a well-organized operation within the local drug trade. The presence of minors among those apprehended raises concerns about the involvement of youth in illegal activities, pointing towards broader social issues in the community.
Significant quantities of narcotics were seized during the operation, including 4,445 pouches of cocaine, approximately one kilogram of bulk cocaine, around four kilograms of crack cocaine, along with 230 ecstasy tablets. This operation underscores the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Brazil, particularly in urban areas like Belo Horizonte, where organized crime often intersects with poverty and youth delinquency, highlighting the urgent need for social intervention and law enforcement.
