The Civil Police of Brazil executed Operation 'Cash Flow' in Carmo, resulting in the arrest of 21 suspects linked to drug trafficking operations by the Comando Vermelho gang.
In a major operation conducted on the morning of October 10, the Civil Police of Brazil launched Operation 'Cash Flow', targeting the core of the Comando Vermelho, a notorious drug trafficking organization, in the town of Carmo, located in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro. The operation, which began at around 5:30 AM, was supported by the Military Police, Gaeco, and DGPI, and successfully apprehended 21 suspects and three minors involved in illicit activities. The initiative was spearheaded by Delegado Luiz Henrique Ferreira Guimarães, head of the local police station, the 112th DP.
The decisive action followed a year-long investigation into drug trafficking under the Comando Vermelho's direction, which has deep connections to the larger criminal network operating out of the Complexo do Alemão in North Zone, Rio de Janeiro. The police had previously obtained 44 arrest warrants through judicial processes, highlighting the extensive nature of the trafficking operations in the area. During the operation, police executed 20 of these warrants and conducted searches based on three additional warrants, also resulting in two on-the-spot arrests and the formal apprehension of a minor.
