Volunteer Civil Protection Organizations: Receipt of Personal Protective Equipment
A ceremony was held in Athens to deliver personal protective equipment to volunteer civil protection organizations, supported by the European Investment Bank.
On Monday, a ceremony took place at the Olympic Museum in Athens, attended by the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Giannis Kefalogiannis, marking the delivery of personal protective equipment to volunteer civil protection organizations under the program AIGIS. This initiative aims to provide material support to organizations registered in the Volunteer Civil Protection Register (MEOPP), further enhancing their operational capabilities in crisis situations.
The delivered equipment consists of 4,500 uniforms, 4,500 protective boots, 4,500 gloves, and 4,500 helmets with lights, with a total budget of approximately €2.4 million. The items, funded by the European Investment Bank, are intended to equip volunteers who play a crucial role in responding to emergencies and disasters. This support is necessary to ensure that these organizations can perform their duties effectively and protect the communities they serve.
In his speech, the Minister highlighted the symbolic significance of the ceremony, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and supporting the efforts of volunteer organizations in civil protection. This event not only acknowledges the vital contributions of volunteers but also reinforces the collaboration between government entities and civil society in addressing climate-related challenges and enhancing public safety.
