150th Anniversary of the Opening of Busan Port, Korea's First Modern Trade Port
A special exhibition commemorating the 150th anniversary of the opening of Busan Port will be held in Busan, featuring historical insights and artifacts related to the port's significance.
This year marks the 150th anniversary of the opening of Busan Port, Korea's first modern trade harbor, and a special exhibition will run from March 24 to May 17 to celebrate this milestone. The Busan Museum will host the exhibit titled '150 Years of Busan Port: Crossing the Sea with Friends,' which aims to share the historical significance of the port with the community. Visitors will engage in a narrative adventure featuring museum characters, Hong-gu and Mae-gi, as they explore the port's transformation since its opening, utilizing various artifacts, videos, and interactive setups to present a comprehensible and engaging history of Busan's maritime past.
Additionally, from July 7 to August 31, a collaborative exhibition titled 'Joseon Royalty and World Heritage' (tentative) will commemorate the 48th UNESCO World Heritage Committee meeting in Busan, co-hosted by the Busan Museum and the National Palace Museum. This exhibition will present significant World Heritage and documentary heritage items related to the Joseon royal family, alongside key cultural assets of Busan. Following that, from October 13 to December 13, another exhibition titled 'Gardens of Joseon: Planting the Heart and Enjoying the Scenery' (tentative) will focus on the philosophy and culture of garden creation visible in Joseon-era gardens, showcasing paintings and crafts that reflect the aesthetics of these spaces while utilizing digital technology to offer immersive experiences to viewers.
