Nearly 600 deviations in Cosmic in Västernorrland

The new Cosmic healthcare system in Västernorrland has reported nearly 600 issues since its implementation, affecting various healthcare services.

In Västernorrland, the region's director, Åsa Bellander, has acknowledged the significant number of issues with the newly implemented healthcare system, Cosmic. Despite recognizing that there are many 'childhood diseases' associated with the system, she emphasizes the learning curve that staff must overcome to adapt to the new technology. The system is designed to streamline operations by replacing several older systems, but this transition is proving to be challenging for many healthcare workers.

Reports indicate that the issues with Cosmic span across various healthcare sectors, including both primary and secondary care. After a request for information, SVT was able to obtain reports of these deviations from June 2025 up until February of the current year, underscoring the widespread problems faced by healthcare facilities. The delays in releasing this data indicate possible concerns regarding transparency and the efficiency of the new system.

Healthcare staff have voiced serious concerns about the usability and functionality of Cosmic. Family physician Marija Kramar, working at Nyland's health center, has described her daily struggles with the system, expressing frustration over the feeling that she is working for the program rather than it aiding her in patient care. This sentiment highlights the critical feedback from healthcare professionals that may inform future adjustments needed for the Cosmic system to better serve both patients and medical staff in Västernorrland.
