Yle, Finland's national public broadcasting company, is preparing to unveil an audio drama centered around the life of Ville Leino, a notable former ice hockey player and founder of the Billebeino brand. The audio work is anticipated to launch on Yle Areena, Finland's streaming service, on March 19. Leino revealed that he was first approached about this project nearly two years ago, prior to the summer, and initially expressed skepticism regarding his involvement, questioning whether this project could proceed without him.
Leino has remarked positively on the production team, highlighting the quality of the collaborators involved in the project. Although he had concerns at first, the team proved to be engaging and committed to telling his story authentically, despite certain dramatizations being included. He emphasizes the collaborative nature of the project, indicating the long process of one and a half years that it took to bring the audio drama to fruition, including a significant involvement from a talented cast.
The audio drama will feature six main actors, as confirmed by Yle in their announcement. This includes talents such as Miro Lopperi, Samuli Niittymäki, Anna-Sofia Tuominen, Minttu Mustakallio, Lauri Tilkanen, and Jarkko Pajunen, all contributing to the storytelling of Leino's life and career. With the anticipated release, this project stands to provide listeners with a multifaceted understanding of Leino's journey in sports and business, marking a notable contribution to Finnish media.
