Saukkola expressed enthusiasm about joining the team, highlighting the positive reputation he has heard regarding the organization’s thorough approach toward successful broadcasts. He realized almost immediately in discussions that this was the team he wanted to be part of, suggesting a strong alignment between his ambitions and the team's goals.

Before the Olympics, Saukkola was relatively unknown outside of specific circles, but his performance during the games captured the interest of the hockey audience. He revealed that he was pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming positive feedback he received regarding his commentary during the Olympics. Ilta-Sanomat's hockey coverage, known as IS-Kiekkokierros, will air live every Friday at 5 PM during the SM-liiga regular season.
