Transcorp Energy wins bid to expand renewable power
Transcorp Energy has successfully bid to deploy renewable energy solutions in Abuja under a World Bank-supported project.
Transcorp Energy Limited has been awarded a contract to expand renewable energy initiatives in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, as part of a World Bank-supported venture by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). This project aims to provide reliable electricity to underserved communities through interconnected mini-grids, integrating with existing distribution networks to enhance energy access in Abuja.
The initiative, outlined in a recent statement, indicates that Transcorp Energy, a subsidiary of Transnational Corporation Plc, will implement these renewable energy solutions through strategic collaborations. This effort aligns with the REA's broader objective to promote sustainable energy access, which includes fostering innovative partnerships between the public and private sectors.
The Utility Enabled Projects programme, sponsored by the World Bank, seeks to encourage private sector involvement in decentralized renewable energy solutions. By doing so, it aims to complement the national grid and improve the overall reliability of energy supply, which is critical in addressing the power deficits faced by many communities in Nigeria.
