The BNDES reports a staggering 1,502.2% increase in credit approvals for innovation projects in São Paulo for the period 2023-2025 compared to 2019-2022.
A recent balance report from BNDES, to be released on Tuesday, reveals a phenomenal increase of 1,502.2% in credit approvals for innovation projects in São Paulo for the 2023-2025 period, compared to the previous cycle from 2019-2022. This substantial growth highlights São Paulo's central role in innovation and economic development within Brazil, showcasing its increasing attractiveness for new projects and investments.
The report also indicates significant growth in other sectors in the state, with industry rising by 158.2%, health by 250.2%, biofuels by 78.1%, and infrastructure by 21.3%. Aloizio Mercadante, president of BNDES, emphasized that while the economic weight of the Southeast cannot be overlooked, these statistics reflect Brazil's overall productive structure. Mercadante pointed out that although the bank's operations are demand-driven, a similar growth trend in approvals has been observed in other regions of the country.
The total amount of approvals soared from R$ 91.5 billion during the 2019-2022 period to R$ 152.6 billion for the upcoming period of 2023-2025 in São Paulo. This growth underscores the state's leadership in national approval volumes, as evidenced by last year's figures where São Paulo led with R$ 58.8 billion in total approvals. Such increases could provide significant implications for economic recovery and innovation-driven growth across Brazil.
