Police dismantle group linked to drug trafficking between Manaus and Parintins and arrest three suspects
Three individuals were arrested during an operation by the Civil Police of Amazonas that dismantled a drug trafficking organization between Manaus and Parintins.
The Amazonas Civil Police conducted an operation that led to the dismantling of a criminal organization involved in drug trafficking between Manaus and Parintins, resulting in the arrest of three suspects. The operation seized approximately 50 kilograms of skunk marijuana and a shotgun. These arrests were made public on Monday, the 16th, highlighting the ongoing efforts by local authorities to combat drug-related crime in the region.
The first suspect, identified as the leader of the faction, was apprehended on Wednesday, the 11th, in the TarumΓ£ neighborhood of West Manaus. On the same day, another 28-year-old man was arrested in Cidade de Deus in North Manaus. This coordinated effort among various police units showcases the urgency and importance of addressing the organized crime epidemic affecting the Amazonas state.
On Friday, the police arrested the third suspect, also aged 28, in the rural area of Parintins. During the search of his residence, they found the substantial stash of drugs and the firearm hidden. Police spokesperson Ricardo Cunha noted that this specific faction was significantly weakened by the operation, which signals a determined approach by authorities to tackle the drug trafficking issues plaguing the region.
